I pass a little bit of time by shuffling through my music, while looking up every couple of seconds at the signal.\n\nunder construction
Winter is starting to hit hard, and it was going to continue to get colder in the following weeks. I don't really dislike it, though. I'll just have to start wearing thicker coats to work. The sun is always down by the time I get out and soon the chill will start to be pretty unbearable. Gripping the handlebars of my bicycle, I'm wondering why I didn't think to bring gloves or a scarf today. My hands are starting to numb and I can't even feel my nose. Stopping at an intersection, I desperately cup my hands around my mouth and nose and exhale-- an attempt at warmth.\n\nThe wind chill made it worse. Ever so often, a breeze would grip me and freeze me to the core. The sound of it flying past my head didn't help either. As a buffer against the sound of the wind, I pull out my mp3 player from my backpack and fit the headphones over my ears. Maybe they'd serve as makeshift earmuffs. When I turn on the music, it's starlingly loud, but I adjust to it quickly. \n\nI look up to see that the crosswalk signal is still red, despite the sparse traffic. I figure just [[walking across|walkacross]] wouldn't make much of a difference if I hurried. Or I could [[just wait|justwait]] like a good pedestrian.\n
Waiting on this corner just meant less time to get to my apartment and get to sleep. That's all I wanted, really. Slipping the mp3 player into my pocket, I hold both handlebars of my bicycle again and lead it across the street in a light jog. If this was the middle of the day, it'd be a dangerous move. Thankfully, despite how busy the city was during the day, at night it died down exponentially.\n\nOr so I assume. I groan out loud as I see something out of the corner of my eye: a car turning onto the road around the corner. Speedily, too. They must assume the streets are as empty as I had assumed.\n\nunder construction
